Police confirmed there was no foul play in the death of a Belgian man whose body was found yesterday at a slope of Bukit Tarik near Kampung Orang Asli Kerling, Kuala Kubu Bharu here.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said the body of Thomas Jean Francois, 34, was found at 9.55 am after he was reported missing while participating in the International Hash Challenge in Selangor last Saturday.
He said Francois' body was found about 15 kilometres away from the route of the run.
"The victim is believed to have lost his way and fell during the run," he told reporters when met at the scene here.
Supramaniam said Francois was among 88 participants in the run which started at 7.30 pm last Saturday from Ladang Rasa to Lembah Beringin.
"All the participants arrived at the finishing line, except Francois," he said, adding that the participants conducted a search for the victim after realising him missing.
He said police mounted a search and rescue operation for Francois after a missing person's report on him was lodged by the Belgian Embassy at the Dang Wangi police station.
He said Francois body had been sent to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for post-mortem.
