The RTD has given the NGO permission to auction numbers Patriot 1 to Patriot 9999.
Yayasan Patriot Negara (YPN) denied any wrong doing in the application for the exclusive PATRIOT number plate series.
Its deputy chairman Datuk Nadzim Johan said YPN had contacted the Road Transport Department over the matter, two years.
He said YPN had paid a premium of RM1 million to meet the requirements for the special number plates.
“There are 26 special number plate series out there. Why are they not questioned? Our bidding is open,” Nadzim said adding that the number plates are based on ‘willing buyer, willing seller' concept.
YPN expects to pocket RM10 million from this project. The money will be used to promote patriotism and other YPN initiatives.
So far five people had bid for the number plate with the highest bid at RM1.3 million.
The exclusive number plate series are party of the YPN’s initiative to raise funds to promote moderation and is working together with the RTD.
The RTD has agreed to release the special series registrations to the NGO and to auction numbers Patriot 1 to Patriot 9999.
YPN was set up in 2013 to initiate programmes that encourage racial unity, religious tolerance and patriotism among Malaysians.
