No hike in express bus fares, additional 10 per cent charge extended - SPAD
There will be no increase in fares for express bus services at the moment, the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) announced in a statement here today.
The decision was taken even though the price of petrol and diesel had increased by 20 cents per litre on Tuesday.
However, express bus operators will be allowed to continue with the 10 per cent additional charges - introduced during the Hari Raya festive season – which is scheduled to end tomorrow, until the new charges are announced.
According to SPAD, the decision was taken after scrutinising the operating costs such as fuel, wages and maintenance costs that will increase due to rise in fuel prices.
SPAD is currently in the final stages of studying the express bus fare rates, and will ensure the new fare will not burden the people and operators.
