No influenza A case is detected among humans following health monitoring yesterday by the Kelantan Health Department and the District Health Offices concerned.
In a statement, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Health Ministry took cognisance of the public's anxiety and it had also been asked if chickens in the state were safe for consumption.
"According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the chicken is safe for consumption if it is properly prepared and cooked at a temperature of over 70 Celsius because the H5N1 virus will be destroyed," he said.
"The ministry will continue to work with the Veterinary Services Department and all related agencies in tackling H5N1," he said.
On Wednesday, the Kelantan Veterinary Services Department reported new locations positive of H5N1 from bird samples in Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh and Bachok districts.-- Bernama
