No issue of being fast or slow in confirming MH370 fragments - Liow

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said there is no issue who is fast or slow in confirming the fragments of MH370 found on La Reunion island as Malaysia and France each have their own means and expertise.

"Our experts made an early decision (announcement) on the flaperon based on existing technical records with MAS. Hence we were fast (in making a decision).

"France on its behalf, wanted to do some research and further verification.

We agreed, there is no problem. They went to Boeing, taking the registration number. In the end they confirmed on Sept 4 the wing fragment was that of MH370, the results are the same as Malaysia's.

"Various methods can be carried out for confirmation. We are confident it is indeed MH370. Why slow or fast, ask the French," he said.

He was responding to questions from several parties on Malaysia's announcement made ahead of France confirming that the wing fragment, found on the French island colony on July 29, belonged to MH370.

The MCA president was speaking to reporters after launching the Federal Territory MCA's annual convention at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Cina Wangsa Maju, here, today.

Liow said all parties involved in the investigation, including Malaysia, have to wait for expert analysis from the Australian search group which is still looking for MH370 for further action.

Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared from the radar on March 8, 2014, with 239 passengers and crew.

On Aug 6, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak confirmed that the wing fragment spotted was that of MH370.
