The Sarawak state cabinet line-up is not expected to see much changes after Tan Sri Adenan Satem takes over as Chief Minister of the state.
He said only various ministerial portfolios with be reshuffled.
"I will maintain the spirit of team work in the state cabinet," Adenan, who is also Sarawak Foundation (Yayasan Sarawak) chairman," told a media conference at the Sarawak Foundation's premises on Friday.
Adenan, who will be sworn in as the state’s fifth Chief Minister on Feb 28, has also pledged to become the chief minister for the people of all races including those from the opposition parties.
“Even though we differ in political views, regard me as the chief minister because we are all Malaysians and Sarawakians,” he said.
He has also vowed to try and resolve the internal conflicts currently faced by two Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, namely the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP).
These conflicts need to be resolved before the 11th state election to be held in 2016, he said.
Adenan added he was overwhelmed by the words of praise, messages of congratulations and prayers received from people of all races in the country especially Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud for their confidence in him.
Adenan, who was giving his first press conference since he was named Taib’s successor on Wednesday, also refuted allegations that Taib brought forward the announcement of his successor to pre-empt input from the Federal Government.
He also admitted he had fallen ill last year and had been warded at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur and Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore.
He has however been given a clean health of bill now.
