There have been no reports of any Malaysian casualties in yesterday's car bomb attack in Ankara, Turkey, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry confirmed.

According to a media statement today, the ministry through the Malaysian embassy in Ankara is currently in close contact with Malaysian citizens there, including students.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia through The Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara will continue to monitor the situation.

"The ministry also wishes to remind Malaysian citizens residing and travelling to Turkey to always give utmost priority to their personal safety and the security of their surroundings, and to closely monitor and comply with any advisory issued by the Government of the Republic of Turkey," the statement said.

In yesterday's attack, at least 28 people were killed and 61 wounded by a car bomb targeting the Turkish military in the heart of the capital Ankara, in the latest string of attacks to shake the country.

The Foreign Ministry said, the Malaysian government strongly condemns the car bomb attack and expressed its deepest condolences to the Turkish government as well as the families of victims affected by the attack.

"The Government of Malaysia regards the attack as a heinous act of terrorism and the perpetrators should be brought to justice."
