No Malaysians involved in Quetta attacks - Wisma Putra

There are no Malaysians involved in the 8th and 11th August attacks in Quetta, Baluchistan, Pakistan which resulted in at least 73 deaths and countless casualties, said Wisma Putra today.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, through the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad will continue to monitor the situation.

"So far, no Malaysians have been reported involved in the incidents," the ministry said in a statement today.

It added that the Government of Malaysia strongly condemns the recent attacks.

"The Government of Malaysia expresses its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and to the bereaved families affected by the attacks," it said.

Malaysia regards these latest incidents as acts of terrorism and hopes that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, it added.

On August 8, a bomb at a hospital in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta killed at least 74 people and wounded more than 50. The Daish group has claimed responsibility.

Yesterday, a roadside bomb hit a Pakistani security vehicle and wounded 13 people in the same city.
