No more arrests made over UPSR leaks - Police

KL CID chief SAC Gan Kong Meng said all 14 individuals who were previously detained have been released on police bail.

“We are focusing on completing the probe and are making efforts to submit our findings to the Attorney-General’s Chambers next week,” he said today.

He asked for all parties to provide some space to the police for this purpose.

Last week, the Examinations Board announced the UPSR examination for Science papers 018, 028 and 038 had been postponed to Sept 30 due to its questions being revealed on the Internet.

Following the announcement of the leaks, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister II Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh apologised to all UPSR candidates for the leaks and the delay in their exams.

Police have recorded statements from 30 individuals to facilitate investigation on the leak in the examination papers of this year's UPSR.

Gan said the 30 individuals comprised eight officers from the Malaysian Examination Board, 19 teachers, an officer from the Education Ministry, an engineer and a journalist.

"Two reports were lodged today (Sunday) at 11am by senior officers of the Examination Board on the leaks in Maths and Tamil and we are already investigating this," he told Astro AWANI.

A total of 14 people have been arrested so far from Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Perak and Negeri Sembilan.
