KUALA LUMPUR: Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu are among few states expected to transition into the second phase of the National Recovery Plan next week.
A source told Astro AWANI that the proposed transition was presented to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyissin Yassin a few days ago, after taking into account key threshold indicators in the respective states.
‘This will allow states that have shown positive outcomes to move to the next phase of recovery and not be hindered by the high number of COVID-19 cases in Selangor.
“The move is in line with a more focused approach outlined in the National Recovery Plan instead of a one-size-fits-all method,” the source said.
According to the National Recovery Plan, the average COVID-19 daily cases must be below 4,000 for seven days to transition into the second phase.
The source adds that the government is expected to take a targeted approach in movement restrictions in Selangor, which continues to record the highest number of daily COVID-19 infections.
Astro AWANI has contacted the Prime Minister’s office for comment.
