No need for Rayani Air to be called up a second time - DCA
AZHARUDDIN: The DCA has no plans to call up Rayani Air for a second hearing yet.
The is no need for Rayani Air to be called up for a second hearing, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) said.
Its director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said, the department would analyse the statements given by the management of Rayani Air before deciding on action against the embattled airline.
"We've identified several issues and enquired about them, and the airline has replied to us on those issues.
"All answers and information given will be analysed and DCA will decide in due time," he told the media after attending a forum 'Aviation Industry: The Way Forward' at the Malaysia University of Technology (UTM) in Jalan Semarak here today.
Azharuddin, however, declined to reveal the scope of issues posed to Rayani Air in the inquiry.
Last Thursday, Rayani Air founder Datuk G. Karthiyani appeared before the inquiry at DCA in Putrajaya pertaining to the airline's operations and management.
The DCA before this had announced a three-month suspension of the shariah-compliant airline operations beginning April 11.
Following a suspension notice issued to the airline, DCA said it would conduct a full audit on the airline's operations to determine if the entity complies with the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).
This was the first time that an airline's OAC was suspended under Rule 87 (1) of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations 1996.
