There is no new case of influenza-like infection (ILI) recorded in Perak in the past 24 hours, according to State Health, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.
In fact, he said the 245 infected pupils at six schools, who have been isolated in their hostel rooms, were recovering well and would be allowed to return home soon.
"Apart from that, three students who were admitted to hospital for ILI had also been discharged," he told reporters after opening the state-level 2017 World Kidney Day celebration here today.
In this regard, Dr Mah also advised the public not to panic as ILI was only a common flu which could infect anybody.
As at yesterday, 512 students were found to have shown symptoms of ILI, including 230 students from Sekolah Menengah (SM) Raja Perempuan Taayah, SM Abdul Rahman Talib in Teluk Intan (87), Sekolah Kebangsaan Klebang Jaya (3), Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (115), Sekolah Izzudin Shah (25), Slim River Vocational College (13), Sekolah Menengah Agama (SMA) Sultan Azlan Shah in Bota (13) and SMA Darul Ridzuan in Tapah (26).
Dr Mah also said the state Health Department and the district Health Office were still monitoring the situation at all schools. - BERNAMA
