No police van or personnel involved in 'explosion' - Police
ACP Zainol Samah (pic) said those who spread such news were irresponsible because it raised concern among the people.
Police denied reports spread via social media that a police van and three policemen were injured in an explosion at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, here on Tuesday.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah said those who spread such news were irresponsible because it raised concern among the people. "The picture of a burning van does not belong to the police and neither were any policemen injured in the explosion as claimed," he told Bernama when contacted on Tuesday.
Zainol said the picture circulated on social media was from an incident on Monday.
"During the incident, the van owner had just arrived from Kedah and while passing through Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, his van engine suddenly burst into flames and quickly spread to the entire van," he said.
Zainol said severe action would be taken against anyone found spreading false news on social media.
