There has been no report of Malaysians who have been physically harmed or affected by the riots on foreign factories, including Malaysian companies, in South Vietnam, said Wisma Putra.
It said the situation in Vietnam is under control, and Malaysia's Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City is monitoring the situation.
"All Malaysians in Vietnam are advised to be vigilant and stay away from the affected areas," Wisma Putra said in a statement here Thursday.
It said the Malaysian companies were also not spared and suffered from the senseless attacks.
The media reported that thousands of Vietnamese launched anti-China riots on Tuesday and set fire to several Chinese-invested plants in the south and central regions of Vietnam to protest China's move to set up an oil rig in a contested area of the South China Sea.
Wisma Putra said: "Malaysia appreciates the Vietnam government's ongoing efforts to contain the riots in South Vietnam which have caused loss of properties and billion of Dong in damages, leaving thousands of workers to lose their livelihood."
