No request from JPJ to track down 'Opai' - KL police

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur police have yet to receive an official request from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to trace Aliff Awang, popularly known as Opai, to assist in the investigation regarding the 'QPA1' vehicle registration number not registered on his McLaren car.
The number was seen displayed on the McLaren and it is understood that Opai, who is the husband of actress Fatin Afeefa has yet to record his statement with JPJ on the matter.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said Kuala Lumpur JPJ deputy director had been in contact with him over the matter.
"Once police receive an official request, we will call the individual to assist our investigations," he told reporters here today.
According to media reports, the JPJ will request police assistance to track down Opai after he failed to turn up to record his statement within the 14-day notice period given.
