No restructuring of agencies for now - Mohamed Azmin

The government will maintain the position of all agencies under the purview of the Ministry of Economic Affairs previously that are now under the responsibility of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy), Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, said there was currently no need to restructure all the agencies following the change in ministries under the new government.

He, however, said the matter would be scrutinized and reviewed by the Chief-Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali, to determine if there was an urgent need for the restructuring of several agencies.

"At present, the existing structure is maintained temporarily as the whole ministry is working to complete the preparation of the12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12).

"We do not want any problems in the near future in light of the fact that all efforts and resources are being focused on implementing the RMK-12 which will be tabled later this year," he said when met at his clock in ceremony at the Prime Minister's Department (Economics) here today.

Mohamed Azmin stressed that the government's emphasis now was on the implementation of the RMK-12 which was in line with the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (SPV2030).

"So all the energy, thoughts and involvement of the officials is crucial to ensure that the RMK-12 is truly an economic plan that brings direct benefits to the people, particularly in addressing the current economic challenges," he said.
