UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that no party leader will be dismissed in the Supreme Council meeting tomorrow evening.
"I was not informed, and there was no discussion about any dismissals... never.
"So, do not raise any suspicion or speculate on the matter," said Ahmad Zahid who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, in a press conference Tuesday.
His statement denied rumours that claimed at least six UMNO leaders, including Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir will be axed by the Supreme Council.
The UMNO Supreme Council meeting will take place at Menara Dato 'Onn, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on Wednesday.
This will be the first meeting after the Cabinet's reshuffle on July 28, which saw Muhyiddin being sacked as the deputy prime minister.
Four other ministers were also dropped during the reshuffle, namely Shafie Apdal, Datuk Seri Hasan Malek, Datuk Seri G Palanivel and Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin.
The previous UMNO Supreme Council meeting was held on May 26.
The following meeting was scheduled on July 31, but was postponed. It was rescheduled on August 28, but was put off once again.
On August 20, UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor announced September 9 as the new date for the meeting.
He said the date was chosen to ensure that all UMNO divisional meetings have been completed.
