No sinking land, water pools on runways, hangars in KLIA2 - MAHB

MAHB Senior General Manager (Operation Service) Datuk Azmi Murad said complaints about the problems which came from a source in the aviation industry three weeks after KLIA2 became fully operational on May 2, were untrue as MAHB would rectify the problem immediately if they truly existed.

"This is not something unusual for an airport to face soil-related issue. A technical term will be used to explain why the ground was uneven, which usually caused by soil movement.

"KLIA2 is not facing any sinking land issue because airports worldwide are facing uneven ground issue," he told a press conference after launching the shuttle bus service provided by Mesra Indah Jaya Sdn Bhd at KLIA2 here today.

Azmi said this in response to the media report which quoted the Public Accounts Committee chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed as saying that MAHB and the Transport Ministry should take the responsibility to solve the sinking land and water pools issues on its runways and hangars.

Azmi said MAHB was a responsible governing body of airports in the country and had always adhered to the international security and safety guidelines.

On the shuttle bus service between KLIA and KLIA2, Azmi said the public now had an option to park their vehicles and take a ride on the shuttle bus at a cheaper rate.

"The shuttle bus is available for those who park their vehicles at the 'Long Term Cark Park' and will take them either to KLIA or KLIA2. The rate is RM2.50 for an hour or RM32 for a day, while motorcycle will be charged only RM1 per entry," he said.
