AHMAD ZAHID: We will not shield any senior officers or headmasters or teachers or anyone involved
The Home Ministry has given the assurance that police will leave no stone unturned in their investigations into the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) leak.
Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the issue concerned integrity, thus police will not compromise with any party.
"We will not shield any senior officers or headmasters or teachers or anyone involved," he added, after attending a village gathering at Kampung Kajang Sebidang here last night.
The English Language examination, papers 014/1 and 014/2 and Science, papers, 018, 028 and 038, were cancelled and postponed following the leak.
The Malaysian Examination Syndicate has set Sept 30 as the new examination date for the two subjects.
Two days ago, police received a report on another leak in two other subjects, Tamil Language and Mathematics.
Yesterday, Education director-general Datuk Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the new examination date for Mathematics, papers 015/1, 025/1, 035/1, and Tamil Language, papers 036 and 037, is Oct 9.
"This is a criminal breach of trust and police will see if there are other criminal aspects as well," he said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno vice president, said former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had served the state well.
"Umno appreciates what he has done for the people and state during his six years' tenure," he said.
However, Umno has no plans to invite the Bandar Tun Razak MP and Pelabuhan Klang assemblyman to join the party, according to him.
"Not at this time, but should Tan Sri Abdul Khalid choose to be an Independent MP, we hope he will be BN-friendly," he said.
Abdul Khalid stepped down as Selangor Menteri Besar yesterday and have been replaced by PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new menteri besar was held at Istana Alam Shah, Klang today.
