KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai is confident that the GRS and Barisan Nasional (BN) administration will remain intact to govern the state.
He said the GRS-BN administration has shown compatibility, effectiveness, and efficiency in the two years of governing the state and it should not be disturbed.
"Hence, I am sure the GRS-BN government will remain intact because, in the end, the most important thing is the interest of the people and the state. It has been proven that (GRS-BN) is the best government.
"If it is the best, why should we want to see it disrupted?" he said in a press conference for the 2022 Community-Based Tourism Roadshow programme at the Sabah Tourism Board Office here today.
Joniston who is also Sabah's Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, reiterated that there is no 'war' between GRS and Sabah BN.
Yesterday, GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor strongly rejected an allegation that the coalition has declared war against Sabah BN, its partner in the state government, because there was no reason or need to do so, given that GRS went to the field to campaign for BN candidates in the just-concluded 15th General Election (GE15).
The Sabah Chief Minister also expressed hope that GRS and Sabah BN would continue to cooperate in administering the state, in line with the mandate given by the people in the 16th state election in 2020 to form the GRS-BN government.
On Monday, Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin was reported as saying that GRS' announcement of support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be appointed as the new Prime Minister had breached an agreement between the two coalitions and amounted to a declaration of war.
