Selangor UMNO Chief Tan Sri Noh Omar today criticised Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming for having allegedly uploaded on his Facebook account an Aidilfitri greeting with the United States flag in the background.
He said it was an act disrespectful of Islam.
"It is alright if he had used the Malaysian flag. The act was an insult and showed disrespect for Aidilfitri," he told reporters after attending an Aidilfitri open house at the residence of former Pengkalan Baharu state assemblyman Datuk Hamdi Abu Bakar here.
Noh Omar, who is Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, said DAP had accused UMNO of being racist but that party was being so.
He said DAP was running out of ideas to tarnish the image of the Barisan Nasional and was getting desperate.
Meanwhile, Gerakan Secretary-General Datuk Liang Teck Meng said Ng was insensitive to the cultural practices of Malaysians.
"As an MP and lawyer, Nga should be more sensitive to Malaysian culture. Using an American flag in an Aidilfitri greeting is most inappropriate and not a good example for the people," he said.
