The people in the Federal Territories were today reminded to be wary of those out to divide society by spreading lies and making empty promises.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said there was a small section of people who would do anythining to gain power in the upcoming 13th general election.

"Beware of those who like to instigate others to create disunity in the country, besides failing to fulfil their promises made to the people.

"Ask them what they have done for residents of the federal territories including in the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency."

He said this when met at the Kenduri 1Wilayah (1Territory Feast) held at the Kerinchi Public Housing Project field in conjunction with the Federal Territory Day 2013 celebration, here.

He also reminded the people that Barisan Nasional would not promise anything that it was incapable of implementing, but would always strive to provide whatever possible for the well-being of the people.

Asked on the putting up of political party flags before the general election, he said it appeared that all quarters, whether government or opposition supporters, just couldn't wait for the announcement of the election date.

"It's not wrong to put up the party flags now as long as it's not an inconvenience or a nuisance to others like causing traffic obstruction or blocking the view of road users," he said.

Meanwhile, it was estimated that some 65,000 people attended the Kenduri 1Wilayah held simultaneously in 13 Federal Territory parliamentary constituencies today, with the theme, "Unity the Pillar of the Federal Territories' Success".

Raja Nong Chik said it was the first time that such a big feast was held simultaneously in the federal territories and this would go into the Malaysia Book of Records.

"Most residents of the federal territories are from outside the areas and they bring along their spirit of unity from their villages or hometowns by holding gotong-royong activities which benefit the urban community," he said.
