Noor Rashid appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police

Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) effective last Monday.
According to a statement from IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Wednesday, Noor Rashid's appointment was based on his wide knowledge in the field of policing, competency and leadership traits.
His appointment was with the consent of the Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) and recommendation of the Police Commission.
Noor Rashid, 56, from Yan, Kedah has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from University of Malaya and began his service with the police force as an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) since January 1984.
Among the posts he has held were as Criminal Investigation chief of Sungai Petani district, Kedah; Serious Crimes Division (D9) officer, Kedah contingent police headquarters; Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief, Penang and Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department deputy director III, Bukit Aman.
He has also held the post of deputy director II (Logistics/Information Technology), Bukit Aman Logistics Department; Sabah deputy police commissioner and Sabah police commissioner.
He replaced Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin, who was on mandatory retirement since last Sept 7.
