Noriah's remains laid to rest

The remains of Datuk Noriah Kasnon has been laid to rest at the Kampung Parit 2 Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Burong in Tanjung Karang here early Saturday.
The remains were first brought to Masjid Ar Rahmah in Sungai Burong, where scores of people had been waiting to pay their last respects to the Plantation Industries and Commodities deputy minister.
About 1,000 people comprising family members, friends, acquaintances and members of the public from all walks of life began gathering at the mosque and family home since 6pm.
Among those who were present included Selangor UMNO information chief Datuk Noh Omar, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim as well as PKR vice president Tian Chua.
Noriah, who was also Sungai Besar MP, perished in the Eurocopter AS350 heli crash in Sarawak yesterday. The helicopter, bearing the registration RP-C6828, was en route from Betong to Kuching on Thursday afternoon.
The other five who were onboard the ill-fated chopper were Noriah’s husband Asmuni Abdullah, her bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun, Kuala Kangsar MP and Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, and Filipino pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas.
The search and rescue for the other victims were currently ongoing.
Noriah is survived by five children – Mohd Syafiq Ishak, 29, Ain Shafinas Ishak, 24, Anis Athirah Ishak, 21, Adam Aidid Suhaili, 19, and three-year-old Adam Mukhriz.
