The North Korean man who was arrested to assist in the investigation into the killing of Kim Jong-nam, on Monday, was remanded for seven days beginning today.
Selangor police chief Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat confirmed this when contacted and informed that the remand order was issued by the Sepang Magistrate's Court.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was reported as saying that based on the identity card (i-KAD) in his possession, the suspect, who was detained at 9.50pm yesterday, was identified as Ri Jong Chol, a citizen of the Demoractic People's Republic of North Korea (DPRK).
Following the arrest, local and international media practitioners have been gathering at Sepang police headquarters since 8am as it was speculated that the remand proceedings would be conducted at the police building.
A car belonging to the North Korean embassy was seen entering the compound of the police headquarters about 4.15pm which intensified speculation that the people from the embassy were meeting the fourth suspect who was detained in its lock-up. -BERNAMA
