The disrupted Electric Train Services (ETS) on the north-south line due to the derailment of a cargo train at Kampung Bakap near Batu Gajah Station here, will resume at 5am Sunday.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad said the repair works on the damaged 100-metre track structure of the Ipoh-Kampar line were running smoothly.
"The wagons were being moved at 12.30pm today and so far (5pm) 70 percent have been moved and after that the tracks will be repaired and also replaced with the new ones.
"We believe that if it does not rain tonight it can be completed," he told reporters at the scene of the incident, here Saturday.
Nawawi said KTMB was investigating the cause of the incident by taking into account various aspects such as technical problems, human error and foul play.
"We will also check the data recording device in the locomotive," Nawawi said.
In the 3.15am incident on Friday, two locomotives and 40 wagons travelling from Kuang, Selangor to Tasek, Perak, to collect cement, derailed at KM200.3 between Kota Bharu and Lahat.
The two locomotives and 25 empty wagons had blocked two tracks. -- Bernama
