#Nothing2Hide: Najib missed the golden opportunity - Tun M

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak had missed a golden opportunity to bring back the support and faith of the people through the #Nothing2Hide event today.

Dr Mahathir said the event would have been the best platform for Najib to address the allegations and issues raised by the people about him and his administration.

Dr Mahathir said, even he would have thrown his support behind Najib had the PM succeeded in providing a thorough explanation of the financial state of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

"I came to hear his explanation. I was hoping he would offer good explanation and I was prepared to extend my support to him. But, he did not come to explain and so I am not able to support him," he said at a press conference after the event was cancelled by the police.

He said he was also quite upset that Najib did not turn up at the event.

Dr Mahathir also stressed that he will continue to explain to the people on the 1MDB issue.

The former premier has been Najib's harshest critic especially on the 1MDB and Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M).
