The nude, maggot-infested bodies of two septuagenarian sisters were found at their home in Kampung Pulau Meranti here Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as rubber tappers Salmiah Yaakob, 76, and Salasiah, 71.

A nephew, Mazlan Yunus stumbled on the bodies about 9.30am when he arrived at the house in Ladang Kelapa Sawit, Sungai Beruas.

Mazlan, 52, said he drove from Ipoh to visit the aunts who were single and lived together.

"Usually, when I hooted my car, Mak Ngah (Salmiah) would open the door but this morning, I honked repeatedly but no one greeted me.

"I went to the rear of the house to have a look and found the kitchen door ajar. Upon entering the house, I was shocked to see Mak Ngah supine on the floor near the kitchen door.

"Her body was highly-decomposed...to the extent there were maggots. Her mouth was gagged with a piece of cloth," he added.

Mazlan said he was also shocked to find Mak Lang's (Salasiah) body with her tongue protruding, slumped on the easy chair in the living room. The bodies were found in a state of undress.

He said he rushed outside and alerted the villagers before informing the police.

Mazlan recalled that about three weeks ago, one of his aunts had informed him that Indonesian immigrant workers had enquired over the number of people staying at the house.

"My aunt scolded them and I suspect they might have harboured a grudge against them (aunts) and harmed them," he said.

Meanwhile, Manjung police chief, ACP Tengku Mohd Zailan Tengku Ahmad Shah believed the women died about five days before their bodies were found.

"The case has not been classified. We are waiting for the post-mortem report from the Manjung Hospital tomorrow," he said.
