The National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (NUFAM) has submitted a memorandum to the human resources minister and transport minister, urging the ministries to assist the 6,000 workers who were terminated by Malaysia Airlines last year.
NUFAM president Ismail Nasaruddin handed over the memorandum on Tuesday to Human Resources Ministry head of corporate communications Meor Hafizan Abdul Ghani at the Putrajaya Complex D here.
Ismail said the union was informed that some of the retrenched MAS workers had been mistreated and not been served with the termination benefits that were promised by MAS, according to what they had agreed upon.
"Some of them were paid less than RM500. Yesterday, I was informed that one guy was paid RM100 for compensation. That is very disturbing.
"Both ministries had promised the workers of their welfare, find suitable jobs and ensure their livelihood will remain looked after," he told reporters after handing over the memorandum.
