Number of flood evacuees drops in Johor at noon
The number of evacuees in Muar increased to 443 from 415 as at 6am due to a rise in the level of Sungai Muar with the floodwaters flowing downstream from Segamat.
The number of flood evacuees in Johor dropped to 6,013 at noon from 6,852 in the morning.
State Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the 1,619 families were being accommodated at 66 evacuation centres in four districts, namely Segamat, Muar, Tangkak and Kluang.
He said Segamat had the biggest number of evacuees, at 4,033 from 1,079 families. They were being housed at 47 relief centres.
The number of evacuees in Muar increased to 443 from 415 as at 6am due to a rise in the level of Sungai Muar with the floodwaters flowing downstream from Segamat.
Ayub said a relief centre was opened in Muar, raising the number to six as at noon.
In Tangkak, 1,528 people from 412 families still remained at 12 relief centres while in Kluang, nine people from three families were putting up at a relief centre, he said.
