KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims currently housed at relief centres in several flood-hit states has reached a total of 47,038 people this afternoon.

According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Disaster Info portal, Temerloh recorded the highest number of flood victims at 10,882, followed by Maran (3,515), Lipis (2,528), Jerantut (2,065), Raub (1,998), Kuantan (1,957), Pekan (1,880), Bera (1,264) and Rompin (1,001).
The portal also said that the water level at Pahang River in Bera, Jerantut, Maran, Pekan and Temerloh has exceeded the danger level.
In TERENGGANU, the number of flood victims increased to 13,092 in 50 relief centres as of 3 pm compared to 12,899 people recorded at 8 am.
Head of the Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee, Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said Kemaman still recorded the highest number of victims at 11,211 followed by Dungun (1,745) and Hulu Terengganu (136).
Apart from that, the Irrigation and Drainage Department reported that the two rivers in the two districts, namely Sungai Kemaman at Paya Paman Pump House and Sungai Dungun at Jerangau Bridge, are showing dangerous water levels.
In KELANTAN, the number of flood victims in six districts showed a drop with only 5,597 people taking shelter at 66 relief centres this afternoon compared to 6,319 people earlier.
As of 2 pm today, Kuala Krai still has the highest number of victims at 2,837, followed by Pasir Mas (1,680), Tanah Merah (537), Gua Musang (365), Jeli (156) and Kota Bharu (22).
Seven rivers including Sungai Galas, Sungai Lebir and Sungai Kelantan had also crossed danger mark.
In JOHOR, the number of flood victims housed at five evacuation centres dropped to 1,259 people as of 3.30 pm compared to 1,422 people this morning.
State Environment and Health Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said Kluang still recorded the highest number of victims at 578 followed by Mersing (335), Kota Tinggi (185), Segamat (89) and Johor Bahru (72).
Vidyananthan said Jalan Haji Suhud in Johor Bahru and Jalan Tanah Abang in Mersing are still closed to all vehicles at this time.
In PERAK, the number of flood victims in the three affected districts also dropped to 196 people at 3 pm compared to 359 people this morning.
A spokesman for the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said that the highest number of victims were in Hilir Perak district at 171, Hulu Perak (16) and Central Perak (nine).
As of 2 pm today, the water level at Sungai Perak in Kuala Kenderong and Tasik Temengor in Hulu Perak district as well as in Kampung Gajah, Perak Tengah are at the warning mark.
In SABAH, all 35 flood victims housed at the Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Dun Banir in Beaufort have been allowed to return home at noon today.
