The mother of the girl who drowned in a former bauxite mining pond yesterday never expected that her daughter's request to wear a white 'telekung' (Muslim women's prayer attire) a day before the incident was the sign that she would leave her forever.
Nor Habibah Aidil, 50, said on Friday night, Nureen Ain Juwita Mohd Sharif, 10, wanted to wear a white telekung to perform Isyak prayers at a tahfiz in Sungai Karang where she learned to read the Al-Quran.
"She asked to wear a white telekung instead of the usual green telekung before going to the tahfiz," she said when met by reporters at Sungai Karang Darat Muslim cemetery here today.
Nor Habibah said she accepted her only daughter's death as God's will.
Nureen Ain Juwita, who was the youngest of six siblings, was buried at the cemetery at about 11am.
In the incident at 5pm yesterday, Nureen Ain Juwita and siblings Salsabila Zuhairi, 12, and Mahathir Mohamad, seven, drowned while playing near the pond in Taman Sungai Karang Jaya, Sungai Karang near here. - BERNAMA
