PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar can be investigated under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and Section 124 of the Penal Code following her action to meet Jacel H. Kiram, the daughter of former Sulu armed group head, Jamalul Kiram III.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said Nurul Izzah, who is also Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, would be called to give her statement next week following her action that could threaten national security and peace.
"Even though Nurul Izzah has apologised, her action is still considered serious when a Malaysian parliamentarian meets the country's enemy who invaded a part of our country...we hope she is prepared to give her statement.
"I do not know why she (Nurul Izzah) meets with Jacel H. Kiram, (daughter of former Sulu armed group head, Jamalul Kiram III) and we need to know why she did it," he said after attending the 2015 Sunathon Programme here today.
Khalid said, as the IGP and a Malaysian, he was angry with Nurul Izzah's action because, as a Member of Parliament, she should not have met with the country's enemy that had caused many police and military personnel to be killed.
He said following Nurul Izzah's meeting, police wanted to know whether there was a possibility that the attack in Lahad Datu in 2013 was orchestrated by certain parties in the country and to investigate the possible involvement of other parties in the attack.
"From the photographs, such as Nurul Izzah holding a banner with the country's enemy, it's not a coincidence but a meeting that was planned and we need to know what they had discussed about," he said.
Prior to this, Jacel uploaded four photographs on Nov 9 in her Facebook account showing the meeting with Nurul Izzah.
On February 2013, a group of intruders from southern Philippines entered the country's waters using boats and assembled in stages at the Felda Sahabat 17, Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu.
The incident led to two security members killed and three others injured while 12 armed intruders was killed.
Nurul Izzah in a statement previously admitted she met Jacel on Nov 9 while in the Philippines with Batu Member of Parliament, Tian Chua as part of the PKR delegation's meeting with that country's stakeholders.
