Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar and her husband, Raja Ahmad Shahir Iskandar Raja Salim, have agreed in principle to have joint custody of their children.
This was recorded by Syariah High Court registrar Muhammad Fateh Saleh in chambers today in the presence of the couple.
Lawyer Azmi Mohd Rais, representing Raja Ahmad Shahir Iskandar, when met by reporters, said other terms, like visitation rights and the children's place of residence, would be decided later.
He said the court had set Jan 15 for mention of the case.
Nurul Izzah, who is Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president, was represented by lawyer Nor Mawaddah Ramli.
She filed an application for custody of the children on April 30, a few months after she filed an application for a divorce from her husband.
Nurul Izzah and Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar married on May 9, 2003 and they have two children, a seven-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son.
Meanwhile, the Lower Syariah Court also set Jan 15 for mention of the couple's divorce case.
This followed Raja Ahmad Shahir Iskandar's application for a review of areport by the reconciliation committee (JKP).
