Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar said she is ready to face the Parliament Rights and Privileges Committee if the motion to refer her to the committee is accepted.
“I will face it with an open heart,” she said when met at Parliament lobby today.
Nurul Izzah said she will also discuss with her lawyer on actions to be taken against those who had said her meeting with Jacel as being tantamount to treason.
“This includes Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Cabinet member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob,” she said.
She said she will issue an official statement over the matter soon.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said today said Nurul Izzah will be referred to the committee over her meeting with Jacel, the daughter of the former head of the Sulu terrorist group that invaded Sabah in 2013.
She said the government had decided to put forward a motion under Standing Orders 27(3) and 80 to refer the PKR vice-president to the committee.
This would give Nurul Izzah the opportunity to explain herself to the committee in relation to her meeting with Jacel Kiram, the daughter of the former head of the Sulu terrorist group that invaded Lahad Datu, she said.
Jacel had uploaded four photographs of her meeting with Nurul Izzah on Nov 9 on her Facebook account.
