The estranged husband of Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar has appointed a close relative to be a member of the reconciliation committee in their divorce case.
Counsel Zulkifli Che Yong who is representing Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim, informed Syarie Judge Ab Malek Awang that his client had appointed Mohd Fauzi Mustaffa to represent him.
Mohd Fauzi, 45, was not present when the case came up for mention today, as he was in Labuan.
"We initially wanted to appoint Raja Ahmad's brother Shahrir but he is living abroad," said Zulkifli.
On April 1, Nurul Izzah, 34, who was represented by counsel Nor Mawaddah Ramli chose her father's relative, Rosli Ibrahim to be a member of the committee.
The couple were not present in court today.
The court then set June 12 for both sides to file their report.
In a divorce case, the reconciliation committee comprises family members who would provide advice and help to find a solution.
Nurul Izzah, the eldest of opposition chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's children filed for divorce, as provided for under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Enactment 1984 in January this year.
The couple were married on May 9, 2003 and have a daughter aged seven years and a son aged four years.
