The ‘Occupy UM8’ sit-in protest organised by Universiti Malaya (UM) students have relocated again, this time to the UM Chancellery Building from the Student Affairs building located near Kompleks Perdana Siswa.
The students have occupied the area since 3pm after holding a peaceful protest in front of the Student Affairs building since 8.30am.
One student taking part in the protest said, the move was intended to get a response from the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin, regarding the memorandum they sent demanding that the charges against eight of their fellow student leaders be dropped.
At around 2.30pm, the students handed over a memorandum to Universiti Malaya Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Mohd Hamdi Abdul Shukor on Mohd Amin’s behalf.
