One missing, 17 rescued after boat capsizes in Sarawak

Barely a week after a boat sank in Batang Lassa, Daro, Mukah in Sarawak, another boat overturned in Sarikei, Sarawak this morning.
17 passengers were rescued to safety in the incident which took place at 6:50 this morning, leaving one person still missing.
According to Sibu fire chief Abdul Mutalib Rashid, the incident occurred at Sungai Sian, Bintangor, Sarikei, which is 20 minutes from the jetty.
18 passengers were on the boat when the incident took place.
Most of the passengers were rescued by a barge crew who happened to be passing by.
The victim who is reported to be missing is a man aged between 20 and 30 years.
A search and rescue mission for the missing person is currently underway.
