Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia today denied the opposition's allegations that all questions on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) were dismissed during the current sitting of the Dewan Rakyat.
Pandikar Amin said the opposition's actions of politicising the 1MDB issue had tarnished his image as Dewan Rakyat Speaker.
"If they want to politicise the issue, do it outside. Do not implicate the House of Representatives nor me in the issue. This is not a market place...we have regulations to abide by," he told a press conference at Parliament House today.
Pandikar Amin said, 19 question related to 1MDB were accepted in this session and four were in the order paper on the first day of the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
"We have reasons for rejecting the questions and not all were rejected. Some were accepted as they complied with the Standing Orders," he explained.
According to Pandikar Amin, the 1MDB issue was sub-judice as it as under judicial investigation, an as such, did not comply with Rule 36(2) for its discussion as it could affect both the accused and accusing party.
He said he received more than 1,000 questions two weeks prior to the sitting that were screened before being inserted into the order paper.
He added that most of the questions were rejected as they were against Standing Order 23(c), as they contained accusations and trivial matters.
