Opposition using the people of Selangor as 'ransom' - Irmohizam

UMNO Supreme Council member, Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim said that the Selangor government seems to be using the people as ‘ransom’ as a way of securing the release of Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from prison.

He explained that was the reason why the water industry restructuring agreement between the Selangor government and the Federal government was easily cancelled.

“I see the cancellation of the water industry restructuring agreement as a decision which shows that the state government gives preference to politics rather than the people.

“Over 32 discussions were held to finalize an agreement in connection to the water issue. However, four months since Azmin became the Menteri Besar, many decisions have been made which gives preference to politics.

“I keep wondering, does this mean that the decision came from him as a menteri besar or were specific instructions given especially from economic advisors in Sungai Buloh as a form of threat to the Federal government to release the Opposition leader,” he said to UMNO-Online.

Irmohizam added that this matter should be taken seriously.

“Investments in Selangor is reducing. Not only that, job opportunities are also scarce.

“The younger generation should broaden their mind and eyes just by looking at the current job opportunities in the state. And it will not be a surprise if one day they blame the Federal government as being the reason which supposedly is an effect from the economic downturn.

“I see the cancellation of the agreement as a dangerous matter as though it is a sabotage to the country’s economic system,” he added.
