The tanker was escorted home by Royal Malaysian Navy vessel, KD Handalan. The tanker with its crew members were saved by the RMN at about 2.30am, Friday.
Eight perpetrators were detained by the Vietnamese authorities yesterday after the men on lifeboats said their boats sank.
The authorities are still investigating the men and their identities.

The tanker, which was first spotted in Cambodian waters on Wednesday after went missing for almost a week, was repainted from blue to black. It was also renamed Kim Harmon.

The tanker which is owned by Syarikat Magna Meridian Sdn Bhd had 22 crew members, comprising 16 Malaysians, five Indonesians and one Myanmar citizen.
