The outcome of the investigation by the National Audit Department into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) accounts will be released in about three months, department deputy director R. Raja Sunthara Kannan said today.
He said the department was into the second phase of the investigation that was a more detailed probe regarding some elements that had not been investigated.
"The first phase of the investigation has been completed, but there remain some relevant information associated with matters abroad that have to be settled, and we expect to release the report of the investigation in three or four months," he said.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak ordered the Auditor-General to vet the 1MDB accounts after the Cabinet was briefed on the government-owned company's accounts.
Raja Sunthara Kannan was approached at the Seminar on Sustainable Integrity organised by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy and the Farmers Organisation Authority, here.
