Over 500 flood victims in Johor, Sabah still in relief centres

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Johor and Sabah dropped to 552 people in temporary relief centres as of 8 pm last night.
In JOHOR, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said 506 people were housed in relief centres last night, compared to 623 in the afternoon following the closure of one centre in Batu Pahat at 4 pm.
Five centres are still operating in two districts, namely in Batu Pahat, with 480 victims from 132 families in four centres while Segamat still has 26 people from nine families in one relief centre.
Sungai Bekok in Batu Pahat exceeded the danger level with a reading of 18.92 metres.
In SABAH, the JPBN Secretariat said the number of flood victims tonight decreased to 46 people from 12 families who were relocated to one relief centre in Beaufort, compared to 134 from 40 families yesterday afternoon.
