He said, this is necessary especially at a time when Malaysia is struggling with numerous economic, political and social problems.
The former Finance Minister said, the country is feeling the pinch from the current global economic climate which has caused the Ringgit to plunge to its lowest levels.
The falling prices of palm oil and rubber are also affecting the country's income.
However he believed the government, under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has done its best to ease the people's burden.
Tengku Razaliegh has also expressed his hope that the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue and other matters relating to the state investment company will be resolved as soon as possible.
"We have not seen the Auditor General's report and we don't know what has been reported by the Special Task Force set up by the government.
"Everything is very confusing. This situation cannot continue as the people are facing difficult times due to the uncertain economic climate," he told reporters at an Aidilfitri open house in Bukit Cekati, Gua Musang on Saturday.
This is not the first time the former Finance Minister has voiced out his opinion which can be seen as critical towards the government.
He has often been the top choice by several opposition leaders to be made Prime Minister.
PAS is said to have nominated Tengku Razaleigh for the prime minister's post for the 13th General Elections.
