P Ramlee's gravesite damaged
The gravesite of entertainment icon, the late Tan Sri P Ramlee, was apparently badly damaged due reasons still unknown.
Several photographs of the smashed tombstone at the Jalan Ampang Muslim Cementery Kuala Lumpur has been circulating online.
Also reportedly damaged were the the adjacent burials of the late wife of P Ramlee, Puan Sri Saloma and artist A.R Tompel.
Astro Awani’s Gala TV team contacted the family of P Ramlee but there were no comments forthcoming as the real reasons for the desecration of the grave were still not clear.
When contacted, Seniman president Zed Zaidi said he was informed of the situation last night.
“We don’t know... we don’t know what’s the reason for what happened, either it was a tree that fell over because of lightning or someone trying to steal something... we want to know then only we take the appropriate action to help,” he said.
Meanwhile, P Ramlee’s son, A R Badul said that the family would be visiting the grave later this week to clean up works.
P Ramlee, the lengendary Malaysian singer and actor, died in in 1973 at the age of 44.
