PAC denies WSJ report
HASAN: "Because the status of the information received was intelligence grade, PAC cannot include it because it contradicts with the duties and responsibilities of the committee"- Filepic
Public Affairs Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin today denied that the owner of Good Star Limited is Low Taek Jho or Jho Low as stated by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) by linking a Bank Negara Malaysia letter to the committee.
"This is because Bank Negara Malaysia itself stated that the status of the information given was intelligence grade. PAC is not an intelligence body and information received must be verified and true," he said in a statement here today.
He said:"Because the status of the information received was intelligence grade, PAC cannot include it because it contradicts with the duties and responsibilities of the committee and could cause prejudice against various parties."
"Besides this, Bank Negara Malaysia itself has stated that its probe into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been closed and that an administrative compound had been issued against the company.
"PAC has also tabled its report to Parliament, as such this matter has been settled and need not be politicised any further," he added.
