PAC never hid anything in its investigation reports - Nur Jazlan

Its chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the people had the right to know the activities involving government expenditure because the allocation came from the payments from their income tax.

"As taxpayers, they (the people) have the right to know how the government spends their money for national development and the people's welfare.

"Thus, if the investigation finds any government ministry or department incurs doubtful expenditure, we will certainly call them up to clarify and disclose them to the people based on the investigation," he said.

He said this when interviewed in the 'Ruang Bicara Bernama TV' program entitled 'With the PAC Chairman', here last night.

Nur Jazlan said the PAC, comprising 14 members of parliament from the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat, actively carried out investigation on government expenditure, putting aside political ideology.

"Although we are a neutral body at the parliamentary level, the task (of the PAC) is to ensure that the government expenditure tabled in the budget is made in a diligent and transparent manner without any element of corruption.

"If there are issues or doubts in the investigation, we will certainly be vocal in raising the matter," he said.

With regard to the integrity of the PAC which is being disputed because it is headed by a member of parliament from the BN, Nur Jazlan said the PAC discharged its duty with sincerity without any political agenda.
