The Pahang government will investigate the conferment of the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) award, which carries the title 'Datuk', to an actor who is currently being investigated for alleged involvement in a housing scam.
State Secretary Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail said initial action had been taken to check if the actor's name had ever been listed as one of the recipients of the state medals or awards.
"Everything is under investigation. Action can be taken if the actor used the title without credential. If indeed the award and the title were conferred, the recipient should maintain the ethical standards so that the monarchy institution would continue to protected and respected."
He said this to reporters after the Annual Training Camp 2017 of Regiment 505 of the Malay Regiment in Sungai Miang here today, which was graced by Pahang Regent Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Muhammad Safian also did not dismiss the possibility of bringing the matter to the attention of the Sultan of Pahang for further action, including possible revocation of the award and title.
On Oct 3, the actor, along with two others, were arrested following 188 police reports made by individuals who claimed to have been cheated by two companies offering to sell houses below the market price. -- Bernama
