Focus is given to disease-prevention in society, especially for mothers and children.
The Pahang Health Department is implementing the Pahang Health Strategic Plan 2016-2020 in the effort to ensure everyone in the state receives optimum health service.
State Health director Datuk Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said the plan, which was implemented last month, was modified from the Health Transformation Plan which was put into effect by the Health Ministry at the federal level.
"The plan was implemented to boost the level of health of the people in the state with the focus given to disease-prevention in society specifically mothers and children," he told Bernama.
Through the plan, emphasis was also given to health services in the Orang Asli villages and poor sections of towns, to ensure access to health services is enhanced.
"Pahang has many Orang Asli in villages scattered in many locations in the state. Among the major health problems identified is related to pregnant mothers including among its youths," he said.
Dr Zainal Ariffin said diseases such as breathing problems and malnutrition could also be overcome by providing more mobile clinic services and encouraging Orang Asli to go to Health Clinics.
The strategic plan, he said, was also implemented with the cooperation of the Orang Asli Develoment Department (JAKOA), State Economic Development Department, Community Development Department (KEMAS) and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
Before the plan was implemented, he said the Health Department itself often went to Orang Asli villages to give services and boost their awareness on health via the Healthy, Active and Cheerful tour programme.
At the same time, he said the department also implemented the 'Koi Nak Bersih, Koi Nak Sihat' campaign in the effort to instill the healthy lifestyle culture via physical activities and daily lives of the people in the state.
He said, although the programme had just been launched this month, the campaign concerning it had been carried out widely in every district and received encouraging feedback.
