Pahang undertakes first phase of GST monitoring

Pahang has undertaken the first phase of monitoring of 2,276 business outlets in the state in anticipation of implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in April next year.

Pahang Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Director Sharuddin Jali said the monitoring, from Aug 25-Oct 15, covered 5,000 goods and services outlets.

"Enforcement officers monitored the 2,276 businesses in 14 parliamentary constituencies.

"The businesses included those selling fresh and milk products, frozen foods, household equipment, vehicle spare parts, self care products, household and logistic services," he told Bernama.

Sharuddin said there will be 10 monitoring phases to be completed by end-2015 to observe price trends and charges of goods and services.

"Our monitoring will cover hypermarkets, supermarkets, provision outlets, as well as wet and dry markets. The second phase of monitoring began on Nov 17 and ends on Dec 19," he added.
